About Me
I’m a Self Taught Artist practicing art since I got to know the usage of pencil. I was born and brought up at Kalpakkam, a township 80km away from Chennai. Since my childhood, art has fascinated me a lot and my hand automatically starts drawing some pictures once I get a pencil and a paper. I use to draw my class teachers while they were taking classes. I was also once caught by my maths teacher for drawing a figurative in my maths text book. All those were really fun. I enjoyed and still enjoying art a lot. Although art was my destination, I was not able to do a professional degree in ART.I did my Engineering in Information Technology and worked with an MNC for three and a half years. Got married and now have a fifteen month’s old little princess. With the guidance and an extraordinary support from my husband, I have started concentrating on my passion and now leading my path towards the same.
About art
I was doing paintings on landscapes, portraits etc as a hobby since my childhood. When I started completely involving myself in art, I got introduced to Abstract art from my husband. From then onwards, I started to browse a lot to know what exactly an abstract art was and also to know about the famous abstract artists.
Abstract Art is an art that is not an accurate representation of a form or object. This representation can differ in many ways right from its shape, color, and form. An object is taken by the artist and is either simplified or exaggerated by changing its form, shape, color etc. This is called an abstract art.
Although there are a number of abstract styles, Cubism, Neoplasticism, and Abstract Expressionism are the three most important type of abstract style which stands out from the others.
My artworks are mainly based on abstract expressionism. It is a style of painting in which the painter shows his personality through spontaneity. Most of abstract expressionist art are not a painting of an object or image, butit’s a study in brush stroke and color. There are two major types of abstract expressionism. One is Action Painting and the other is Color Field Painting. Action painting strives to show paint texture and the movement of the artists. I was very much impressed by Artist Jackson Pollock’s work on action painting in my beginning stages. Some of my works shows his style too. Then I started discovering different strokes with different brushes using various fascinating colors. I mainly work on abstract art using oil paints and oil pastels. I rarely use acrylic paints as I feel oil paints can do a magic to your art.
In addition to abstract art, I work on sketching. I have done lots of portraits, landscape etc using pen. I can bring out the real image of the picture I see, through my sketching.
